A 360Hz QD-OLED gaming monitor for around £500? The Philips Evnia 27M2N8500 sounds like it shouldn’t exist at this price, but it does — and it’s genuinely excellent.

Design

The Evnia line takes an unusual approach to gaming monitor aesthetics. Instead of aggressive “gamer” styling, you get a clean white design with a metal stand that would look perfectly at home in an office. The Ambiglow LED lighting on the back projects colours onto your wall, adding atmosphere without being tacky. The stand offers tilt, swivel, and height adjustment, plus there’s a headphone hanger — a nice touch.

Display Quality

The 26.5-inch QD-OLED panel is the star of the show. QD-OLED combines quantum dot colour accuracy with OLED contrast, giving you vibrant, punchy colours with true black levels. The spec sheet backs it up: 99% DCI-P3 coverage, infinite contrast ratio, and DisplayHDR True Black 400 certification. Colour accuracy out of the box is excellent, with factory calibration data included.

Gaming Performance

360Hz at 1440p with a 0.03ms response time — this is about as fast as monitors get in 2026. You also get both AMD FreeSync Premium Pro and NVIDIA G-Sync certification, plus two HDMI 2.1 ports and a DisplayPort 1.4. It’s fully kitted for competitive gaming on PC, and console players get the full 4K/120Hz experience from PS5 and Xbox Series X via the HDMI 2.1 ports.

Ambiglow

Philips’ Ambiglow is similar to Ambilight on their TVs — LEDs around the back of the monitor project light that matches the on-screen content. In a dark room it adds a pleasant glow that reduces eye strain and makes the screen feel more immersive. Multiple modes include video-following, audio-following, and static colours.

Verdict

At around £500, the 27M2N8500 is roughly £300–400 cheaper than comparable QD-OLED monitors from other brands. The image quality is stunning, the gaming performance is top-tier, and the design is refreshingly un-gamery. If you’re in the market for a 1440p gaming monitor, this is extremely hard to beat for the money.
