The Philips OLED760 launched as the brand’s most affordable OLED for 2025, and at under £900 on Amazon it’s comfortably the cheapest quality OLED you can buy in the UK. But does cutting the price mean cutting corners? We’ve been living with it for a few weeks to find out.

Design & Build

The OLED760 looks smart and contemporary, with slim rod-like feet near the edges of the frame. The panel itself is thin as you’d expect from an OLED, with a bulge at the back for the electronics and Ambilight LEDs. It doesn’t scream “budget” at all — it looks every bit as premium as TVs costing twice the price.

Picture Quality

This is a proper OLED panel. Blacks are truly black, colours are rich and punchy, and the viewing angles are excellent. The P5 AI picture engine does a solid job with upscaling, making standard HD content look surprisingly good on the 4K panel.

Where the OLED760 shows its price is in peak HDR brightness — it tops out around 1,000 nits, which is fine for most content but can’t match the eye-searing highlights of flagship OLEDs. For day-to-day watching in a typical living room, though, it looks fantastic.

Ambilight

This is the feature that sets Philips apart from every other TV manufacturer. The three-sided Ambilight projects colours onto the wall behind the TV that match what’s on screen. It sounds gimmicky, but it genuinely makes the image feel bigger and more immersive — especially for sports, games, and movies with vibrant visuals. There are multiple modes including Cinema, Sports, Gaming, and an AI-driven mode that adapts to content and room conditions. You can also use it as mood lighting when the TV is off.

Gaming

This is where the OLED760 punches well above its weight. All four HDMI ports support 4K at 120Hz — most budget OLEDs only offer this on one or two ports. You also get VRR (including FreeSync Premium and G-Sync compatibility), ALLM, and a Game Bar for quick access to gaming settings. Input lag is low and the response time is near-instant. It’s an excellent gaming TV.

Smart Platform

The OLED760 runs Titan OS rather than the Google TV found on pricier Philips models. It’s clean, responsive, and has all the key apps — Netflix, Disney+, Prime Video, BBC iPlayer, YouTube, and more. It also supports Matter for smart home integration, Apple AirPlay, and HomeKit.

Audio

The built-in 20W 2-channel speaker system with Dolby Atmos and DTS:X decoding is better than expected for a TV at this price. It also supports DTS Play-Fi for multi-room audio setups.

Verdict

The Philips 55OLED760 is a genuine bargain. You get true OLED picture quality, the unique Ambilight experience, comprehensive gaming specs, and a clean smart platform — all for under £900. The only real trade-off is peak HDR brightness, but for most viewers this won’t matter. If you want the best OLED experience for the least money in the UK, this is it.
